KCC SIX WAS A HIT!
(May 5, 2012)
We opened up at 10:15 AM, and despite some tech challenges, we were soon hosting 29 artists and publishers, and over 400 patrons.
Our participants came from as far south as Pennsylvania, as far north as Connecticut, and as far west as California.
Regardless the miles, we all descended on The Episcopal Church of the Mediator, in the Bronx, and had a great time! We were on a new street, with new neighbors, but with the same creative comic book fun and frolic!
But don't take my word for it. Check out this links (www.facebook.com/KidsComicCon) to our Facebook page where you can see photos and videos of the event.
Some of the Guests:
Viz Media artists; Warner Bros animator Dan Haskett; Batgirl artist Alitha Martinez; Archie artist Bill Galvan; Sonic artist Jamal Pepper, a Skype appearance by manga great Pop Mahn, BCC's Video Game Club, and more!
*Our Super Sponsor: Lerner Books, Viz media, Midtown Comics, Random House Books, Dale Diner, not to mention the many neighborhood stores who let us mount our posters in their windows.
And if prepping for the actual convention wasn't enough, on Friday (May 4th) the Viz Media creative & marketing team for their new REDAKAI graphic novel visited a group of kids at the Seward Park Library.
And on Monday (May 7th) SCRAPYARD DETECTIVE ANNUAL (published by the Diversity Foundation) creative team of Bill Galvan & Alex Simmons visited kids at Ronald McDonald House, NYC. The publisher even donated a box load of Scrapyard annuals and graphic novels to the house.
All in all, a very worthy and satisfying event!
