With his long time friend and associate Patricia Fortunato, Simmons has taught workshops for teachers of the Sheltering Arms Day Care facilities. Their topic was the importance of reading to children. These workshops not only underscored how reading to children fostered a love for books and learning, they also demonstrated fun techniques for getting the most out of every book, new or old.
