"The Veterans Affairs Resource Center invited Alex Simmons to do a 4 days of events for Black History Month, culminating with a workshop entitled, THE COLOR OF PEOPLE, COMICS & the MILITARY on February 23, 2012.

The event was sponsored by and for the military students of Bronx Community College. The students walked away from the workshop ecstatic about what they learned as Alex combined Black History, film (Redtails) and comics to give an enlightening and exciting presentation.

This is the second year that Mr. Simmons has done a workshop for the VARC and we will definitely invite him back again."
Clifford L. Marshall, II, CR Manager/Director of VA/Director of BMI

"Alex can do a lot of stuff extremely well-- write comics, run Kids Comic-Con, teach, speak, act, publish, and I'm sure whatever else he put his mind to, he'd do an equally great job. Anyone one of those tasks would be very challenging for anyone, but Alex has a way of making it look easy-- as if he was born to do such things. More importantly, Alex cares greatly about everything he does, and his various works all contribute to making the world a little bit better. He continues to impress with each new project he tackles."
Jim Salicrup, Editor-In-Chief for Papercutz Publishing

"Alex is a committed and visionary artist and producer, one of my favorite people I've had the pleasure to meet and work with in my publishing career. His passionate belief in the power of reading and creating to help young people open their minds is reflected in his dedication to building Kids Comic-con into an annual event. His success in this mission is at least partly due to his marvelous communication skills -- whenever I have the chance to hear Alex in a public speaking engagement, I'm thrilled to hear him. I can't recommend him highly enough."
Janna Morishima, Dir of Marketing Papercutz

"I've illustrated a bunch of SCOOBY DOO strips that Alex wrote. He's an inventive writer with an eye for clever twists. I've appeared at his Kids Con and have enjoyed them all, especially interacting with all the kids who are drawn in. I've encountered Alex on the floor of bigger shows with a gaggle of his students in tow, as he shows them the world of art and comics. Alex is one of the good guys, he knows what he's doing, and he surely knows how to relate to kids of any sort."

"He doesn't wear a cape or a mask, he doesn't have a secret identity, yet Alex Simmons is a real-life superhero! He shares his love of comics with children around the world, promoting literacy and creativity via comic books and graphic novels. Although tempered by reality, his idealism is steadfast, his enthusiasm inspiring!" -- Torsten Adair, Data Analyst for Barnes & Noble --
"Alex is one of the most professional people that i've worked with in my entire life. Diligent, thoughtful, accesible and friendly, Alex is a font of ideas and enthusiasm. Alex inspires everyone around him to do their absolute best buy leading through example."
